A structured research placement at ICRISAT, the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, based in Hyderabad, India. Three tracks are offered: internships of six weeks to three months for BSc students, master's research placements of three to six months, and doctoral research placements of six months to three years. Students join active scientific projects in dryland crop improvement, agronomy and agricultural systems rather than observing. Note that ISRP charges bench fees rather than paying a stipend - USD 100 for an internship plus USD 25 per additional month, with higher tiers for master's and doctoral placements - though a limited number of scholarships is available for strong candidates and students from low-income countries receive a 50 percent fee concession. Applicants must be enrolled at a recognised institution, and a small application fee applies.
