A Japanese private foundation that funds students in any academic field from any country or region who show potential to become leaders contributing to the peaceful development of global society, with programs aimed at those pursuing higher education under economically difficult conditions. Four scholarship streams run: a scholarship for foreign students at Japanese graduate schools, a scholarship for Japanese domestic graduate students, a scholarship for Japanese high school and kosen (technical college) students, and a scholarship for Japanese students studying abroad. The foundation separately supports health-science research through a Food and Health Research Fellowship and a grant for MD/PhD holders to study overseas. Online applications for the international student scholarship were announced as open on 1 September 2026. Relevant to STEM applicants as one of the few Japanese private foundations that funds international master's and doctoral students across all disciplines.
