A month-long open-source celebration held every October, launched by DigitalOcean in 2014 as a challenge to open four pull requests during the month in exchange for a t-shirt. It has since grown into one of the largest developer traditions in the world, with 300-plus in-person and online events. The 2026 edition is themed around open source AI and invites community organisers to host a one-day local fest.
