A statewide STEM immersion programme run as a public-private partnership between the Research and Development Council of New Jersey, the New Jersey Office of the Governor, the Department of Education and the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education, with private employers. Scholars run from grade 10 through the doctoral level and attend four conferences across the academic year, carry out a year-long research or engineering design project aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and visit New Jersey research sites including the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, PSEG and Bristol Myers Squibb. Participation is free, funded by state appropriation, industry sponsorship and in-kind contributions. Scholars are expected to contribute five to ten hours of group work between conferences; college-level Team Leads receive a $1,000 stipend on completing all programme requirements. The alumni network exceeds 1,000 scholars and the programme also opens internship access across the state. Applications open annually on 1 March.
