A US Department of State programme funding study abroad and international internships for American undergraduates receiving Federal Pell Grants, in more than 170 countries. Supplemental awards include a STEM award and Critical Need Language awards. The companion Gilman-McCain scholarship serves dependants of active-duty service members. More than 50,000 students from over 1,380 US institutions have been funded since the programme began in 2001.
