A Georgia Student Finance Commission grant, launched in 2013 as the Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant, that pays on top of the HOPE Grant or Zell Miller Grant for students in technical college certificate and diploma programmes aligned to industries where Georgia has more open jobs than skilled workers to fill them. The designated strategic industries cover roughly a dozen areas including computer technology, precision manufacturing, commercial truck driving, healthcare technology, welding and industrial maintenance. Awards range from $125 to $500 per semester depending on enrolled credit hours, and students must already be eligible for and receiving the HOPE or Zell Miller Grant. Applicants must be Georgia residents and apply by completing the FAFSA or the Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFAPPS). Delivered through the Technical College System of Georgia.
