University of Toronto (Fields Institute)
An annual nine-week mathematics research program at the Fields Institute in Toronto that matches carefully selected undergraduates from around the world, in groups of up to four, with faculty from Fields principal sponsoring and affiliate universities, visiting scientists or industry researchers. Students work on mathematics-related, real-life problems, and most travel and on-site expenses are covered by the Institute. The program began in 2010 in partnership with MITACS and has been run independently by the Fields Institute since 2013; a companion FUSRP-Shanghai program also runs. Student applications close in January for the following summer, with first offers issued in early February.
