Paid summer internships at Chicago's Field Museum for high school and undergraduate students, working on collections-based research alongside museum scientists and practising science communication with the public. Applicants must be a high school or undergraduate student at the time of application and hold an Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin or Michigan address. The placements are fully in person, full time Monday to Friday. Past projects give a sense of the range: georeferencing prairie insects into the collection, digitising the museum's mite collection, studying Chicago's urban impact on mammalian evolution, and training AI to classify beetle colour patterns from preserved specimens. Individual internships are posted on the museum's careers page each cycle rather than as a single application.
