Quantum Computing Internship for Physics Undergraduates (QCIPU), Fermilab

Official Website internships.fnal.gov

About This Program

A three-week paid onsite internship at Fermilab that gives physics undergraduates — plus students in mathematics, computer science and engineering — hands-on quantum computing experience. Interns spend their days on Python and Qiskit programming alongside instruction in the quantum mechanics that underpins it, paid at $20 an hour. The 2026 cohort runs 8–26 June, with applications open 3 November 2025 to 17 January 2026 and offers made in mid-February. Strong performers can be invited into additional year-long paid research positions at the laboratory, which makes the three weeks a genuine entry point rather than a one-off.
