A paid placement scheme run by the Engineering Development Trust that puts school leavers and undergraduates into STEM employers for a full year, typically twelve months, at no cost to the student. Placements sit exclusively in STEM sectors and range from FTSE 100 companies to small innovative start-ups. Alongside the salary, participants get mentorship, masterclasses and the chance to earn Industrial Cadets Platinum accreditation, the top tier of the EDT accreditation ladder. It is open to students who have completed A-Levels, BTECs or equivalent and to undergraduates looking for a placement year, and students can apply during their final year of study. Applicants submit an online form and a CV, EDT matches them against employer vacancies, and the student decides whether to pursue each opportunity. Applications are open for placements starting in the 2026/27 academic year.
