About This Program

The German Aerospace Center's entry routes for students, spanning internships, student research projects and theses, working-student posts and doctoral positions across engineering, computer science, natural sciences and mathematics. Internships require university enrolment and run from four weeks to six months at around 39 hours a week, with remuneration set in the individual job posting; one distinctive option is the Flying Lecture Theatre, an instrumented research aircraft used for meteorological data collection and flight testing. Student research projects and theses typically run six months with a dedicated supervisor and access to 161 large-scale research facilities. Working-student pay follows the German TVoD scale. Doctoral posts usually run three years on half-time contracts and include the DLR Graduate Program, though degrees are awarded by a partner university because DLR is not authorised to award doctorates.
