About This Program

Cubes in Space, run by iEDU in collaboration with NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center at Wallops Flight Facility, gives school-age students a route to design, build and fly a real experiment on a NASA mission. Students aged 11 to 18 who are not yet enrolled at a university work with an educator, who registers for the programme and delivers the coursework, then submit an Application for Spaceflight; selected experiments fly and are returned to the students for post-flight analysis. Two flight opportunities run each year: a sounding rocket carrying 75 experiments and a scientific balloon carrying 100. It is one of very few programmes that puts secondary-school hardware on an actual NASA launch rather than a simulation.
