About This Program

A fully funded six-week residential pre-college programme at Carnegie Mellon for students underrepresented in STEM, run by the university's Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion and combining classroom instruction, hands-on projects and sustained contact with CMU faculty. There is no tuition and no programme cost beyond travel to and from Pittsburgh, which removes the main barrier that keeps selective pre-college programmes out of reach. Applicants must be at least 16 by the programme start, be between 11th and 12th grade in the summer they attend, and be US citizens or permanent residents; financial documentation forms part of the application. The structure is a short virtual opening, a six-week residential block from late June to early August, then continued virtual engagement. Applications close 1 February with decisions on 15 April.
