Canadian Light Source
A competitive program at Canada's national synchrotron in Saskatoon in which an educator guides a team of high school or undergraduate students, minimum age 14, through genuinely student-led research using synchrotron beamtime: students develop the project, run it and present their findings with mentor support. Projects are long-term, team-based and inquiry-driven, and incorporate Indigenous perspectives. Educators request an application package from CLS Education and submit an educational proposal focused on learning outcomes; beamtime and science mentorship support are limited, so calls for applications are issued periodically in spring and autumn.
