About This Program

Civil Air Patrol, the civilian auxiliary of the US Air Force, awards academic scholarships and flight scholarships to its cadets through a single annual application cycle. Applicants must be current, active cadets in good standing who have not received a CAP scholarship in the prior three years; academic applicants must be at least high school seniors at the time of application and enrolled in a course of study for the award year. Flight scholarships fund ground school and flight training at a local FBO under FAA Part 61 or 141, training in CAP aircraft with a CAP instructor, or attendance at a CAP flight academy, with preference for cadets holding a solo badge or a graduate of an aerospace special activity. Recipients must supply a third-class medical certificate and student pilot certificate to claim a flight award. Applications are filed through the Registration Zone in e-Services and need unit and wing approval.
