The student training arm of CIMMYT, the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center and one of the CGIAR research centres. It offers pre-service placements - internships, research positions alongside CIMMYT scientists, and study visits at headquarters in Mexico or at country offices - as well as in-service hands-on training, extended placements and scientist exchanges for people already working in the field. Research sits at the intersection of crop breeding, food security, climate adaptation and sustainable agriculture, so it suits students in agronomy, plant science, genetics, soil science and agricultural engineering. Placement terms are arranged case by case rather than through a single fixed call, and enquiries go through [email protected]. A route into international agricultural research that rarely appears on university funding lists.
