A paid four- to twelve-month placement at CERN in Geneva for undergraduate and master’s students in applied sciences, computing and engineering, working on real projects alongside CERN scientists and engineers. Ten fields are covered: applied physics, civil engineering, data science and data analytics, electrical or electronics engineering, experimental physics, health/safety/environment, material and surface science, mathematics, mechanical engineering, and software engineering and IT. Students receive a net monthly allowance of 3,486 Swiss francs, health insurance (deducted from the allowance), possible family supplement, travel expense coverage, and 30 days of paid leave a year plus a two-week annual closure. Applicants must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State, must have completed at least 18 months (three semesters) of study in the relevant field, and must stay enrolled full time throughout; PhD students and PhD holders are not eligible.
