CAPES is Brazil's federal agency for graduate education, and it is the single largest source of master's and doctoral funding in the country. Its portfolio runs from domestic graduate scholarships and strategic programmes targeting emerging research areas, through international scholarships and grants for study, teaching and research abroad, to teacher qualification programmes for public basic education. CAPES also runs the national evaluation of every Brazilian master's and doctoral programme and maintains the Sucupira platform that publishes the results - which makes its own site the practical starting point for judging the quality of a Brazilian graduate programme before applying to it. Calls are issued per programme rather than through one annual competition, so the edital listings are where current opportunities appear. Site is in Portuguese.
