California Polytechnic State University
The only degree-granting maritime academy on the US West Coast, formerly California State University Maritime Academy and now located at the Cal Poly Solano waterfront campus in Vallejo, California. Seven specialised undergraduate majors are taught through Cal Poly's Learn by Doing approach with a 13-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio, and the academy has more than 90 years of history. Every undergraduate completes an internship, and students can sail a Semester at Sea aboard the 500-foot training ship Golden Bear. Members of the Corps of Cadets follow a structured leadership programme alongside their degree.
