About This Program

The four-year apprenticeship of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers, run as earn-while-you-learn training toward the Boilermaker craft. Skills taught include welding, blueprint reading, rigging, layout and fabrication, tube rolling, cutting, knot tying, hand signals, and reeving and equipment use - the trade that builds and maintains boilers, pressure vessels and heavy plate structures in power generation, refining and heavy industry. The union also maintains a Generation (U)nion resource set for educators and school counsellors.
