About This Program

The Department of Atomic Energy's principal route into scientific and engineering officer careers, run through the BARC Training Schools. The Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES) is a one-year residential course held at BARC Mumbai and at AMD Hyderabad; the DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme (DGFS) funds selected engineering graduates through an M.Tech. before the same track. Selection is via a valid GATE score in the paper matching the qualifying degree discipline, followed by interview. Trainee Scientific Officers and DGFS fellows are paid a stipend of Rs 74,000 a month, and on successful completion are appointed as Scientific Officers in a DAE unit or the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board. Direct recruitment also runs through the Dr K.S. Krishnan Research Associateship and open advertisements.
