The Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance awards multiple scholarships each year across the range of skills needed in aviation maintenance, a programme that began in 2002 with four awards to eight recipients. Despite the organisation's name the awards are not limited to women or to students: many are open to active technicians, transitioning military personnel, and applicants of any gender. Applicants must be AWAM members (student applicants can join with a $15 tax-deductible donation) and may apply for up to five scholarships in a single cycle. The 2026 window ran April 15 to June 15, with winners announced in early August and awards presented at the AWAM Conference in Orlando. Applications require a resume, a 250-word essay on the applicant's interest in aviation, two letters of recommendation, and a copy of an A&P certificate, transcripts, or a statement of industry involvement, all submitted as a single combined PDF.
