A single $1,500 award subsidising travel to the ASHRAE Winter Conference, open to undergraduate and graduate engineering students who are ASHRAE members, with preference for those showing leadership at university, student branch or chapter level. The endowment was fully funded by ASHRAE Technical Committee 5.2 in honour of Herman Behls, a 50-Year Distinguished Service Award member. Conference travel is a recurring barrier for students whose departments will not fund it, and the October deadline falls well before the January conference, so it needs to be planned for a term ahead.
