Official Website ashg.org

About This Program

A worldwide genetics essay competition run by the American Society of Human Genetics for students in grades 9 through 12. Entrants write a short essay of no more than 750 words responding to an annual prompt on a current question in human genetics, and submissions are made on the student’s behalf by a teacher, administrator or parent. Essays are scored across three rounds by ASHG members. Cash prizes go to the top-placed students and honourable mentions, and classroom teachers of winning students are eligible for genetics materials grants for their schools.
