The charitable foundation of the Association of State Floodplain Managers runs a Future Leaders Scholarship, a Collegiate Student Paper Competition and K-12 grants for students heading into flood risk and floodplain management careers. The paper competition is open to graduate and undergraduate students at accredited institutions in flood-related fields including engineering, geology, geography, planning and public administration; placing entrants receive cash scholarships plus a year of ASFPM student membership, and finalists have conference registration, lodging and airfare covered so they can present.
