The American Planning Association Foundation's main scholarship, worth USD 5,000 with around twenty awarded per cycle - by volume the largest single source of scholarship funding for planning students in the United States. Open to undergraduate and graduate students in planning programmes at US institutions who are US citizens or permanent residents, hold APA student membership (which is free), and have not previously received the award. Urban and regional planning sits at the boundary of engineering, environmental science and public policy, and planning students often find themselves outside both the engineering and the social science scholarship pools; this is the field's own dedicated award. Applications close in mid-May for the annual cycle.
