The American Oil Chemists' Society runs a set of student awards within its wider awards programme, recognising research contributions in fats, oils, lipids and related materials. Student-facing awards include the Thomas H. Smouse Memorial Fellowship for graduate students and a series of division-level student excellence awards attached to the AOCS Annual Meeting technical programme, covering analytical, industrial oil products, health and nutrition, edible applications and biotechnology divisions. Member awards and professional awards share an application deadline of 1 October, and applications and nominations are open to non-members for many of the professional categories.
