AMVETS funds veterans, active-duty members, Guard and Reserve personnel, and their spouses, children and grandchildren, with general scholarships worth $4,000 a year. Two Dr. Caccomo Scholarships of $12,000 each are awarded alongside the general programme, and the AMVETS and WD-40 Veteran Scholarship is aimed specifically at the skilled trades — welding, HVAC, industrial maintenance and similar technical credentials. Awards are designed to close the financial gap left after federal and state grants have been exhausted, so applicants are expected to have filed for other aid first. Applications are submitted through the Kaleidoscope portal linked from the AMVETS site.
