First-year graduate fellowships from the American Meteorological Society for students beginning a degree in the atmospheric or related oceanic and hydrologic sciences at an accredited US institution. Stipends range from $5,000 to $26,000 for a nine-month academic year, and recipients also receive partial travel support to the AMS Annual Meeting including complimentary registration, hotel and airfare. Applicants need a minimum 3.0 GPA, must be US citizens or permanent residents, and must not already hold a master’s degree; there is no age restriction. Candidates come from atmospheric science, chemistry, computer science, engineering, environmental science, hydrology, mathematics, oceanography and physics. The society has named 388 fellows to date.
