American Museum of Natural History
A full academic year of authentic research for New York City high school students inside the American Museum of Natural History's own labs, running August to June. Sixty students begin with a four-week Summer Institute building data science skills, then join a museum research group for roughly 260 hours of work across the school year on projects tied to live research in astrophysics, anthropology and biology. Students who complete the research and programme requirements earn a stipend and are eligible for a Lehman College credit at no cost. SRMP is the anchor programme of the wider NYC Science Research Mentoring Consortium, so students who miss a place at the museum can often find an equivalent placement at another member institution.
