The American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers funds undergraduate and graduate scholarships for students who are members of its four member societies (AIST, SME, SPE and TMS). Named awards include the Henry DeWitt Smith Scholarship for graduate students, the Lewis E. and Elizabeth W. Young Scholarships for undergraduates, the John S. Marshall Memorial and Coal and Energy Scholarships for SME student members, and the Benjamin F. Fairless Scholarships for AIST student members. Additional opportunities are offered through the member societies and WAAIME.
