About This Program

The Archaeological Institute of America awards $2,000 scholarships to help students participating in archaeological fieldwork for the first time cover the costs of a field school project lasting at least four weeks. Funding comes through the Jane C. Waldbaum, Laura Obolensky and American School of Prehistoric Research scholarships. Applicants must be at least 18, enrolled at a U.S. or Canadian college or university, entering at least their third undergraduate year and not yet finished with their first year of graduate school, with no prior fieldwork experience; the field school location is unrestricted. Selection considers academic achievement and financial need.
