The American Association of Blacks in Energy awards more than $350,000 in scholarships annually, distributed across local chapter, regional and national winners. Open to high school seniors with a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA who plan to enrol at an accredited college, university, technical or trade school in an approved major — science, technology, engineering, mathematics or business — and who can demonstrate community leadership. The trade and technical school eligibility is worth noting: most energy-sector scholarships assume a four-year degree track, and this one does not. The application window opens in November each year.
