The bootcamp path

Intensive bootcamps - Springboard, Flatiron School, Hack Reactor, App Academy, and others - typically run 3-9 months, focus on a specific technology stack (typically web development, data science, or UX), and place graduates in entry-level technical roles with starting salaries between $50K and $90K depending on geography and program.

What bootcamps do well: intensive skill-building, structured job-placement support, peer cohorts, and a credible signal for hiring managers familiar with the bootcamp landscape. For career-changers with strong analytical backgrounds in adjacent fields, the bootcamp path can produce a technical job in less than a year.

What bootcamps don't do: deep computer-science foundations (algorithms, systems, theory), breadth across multiple programming paradigms, or signaling for the most prestigious technical roles.
